A Reflection

By Micheal Drude

Where is the heart that used to carry me through?
Where shall the pain end and what my Truth?

Once so bold,
Beheld in my youth,
Now released to my pain,
Tears leave behind trailing stains.

Love tossed aside in careless heed,
All those impressions noted indeed,
Once so strong and considered quite wise,
Yet within myself I find self-despise
Respite and impulse I cannot control,
Over-emotion yet again takes its toll,
Insanity rises as passions flicker,
Within this heart burnt to ash long ago,
Reap what you sow and sow what you reap;
But of those things I seek not to speak.

Where do I find the Man I used to be?
The One others admired,
Now those things have expired;
Living on Time borrowed for others,
Those blankets of pain make fine bedcovers,
As I lay each night waiting to die,
Yet more tears fall form my eyes
and I pounder
When it rains, is it Danu who cries?

Shades of Sorrow

By Lady E. (Tonya Hall)
Suffolk, VA

Loving you from a distance,
so close yet so far apart.
Longing to be with you,
hating this separation.
My soul in eternal torment,
waiting for the dominoes to fall.
Hearing your husky laugh in my head,

a bittersweet delight. Unbearable heartache a painful reminder,
Of WE that is not yet to be.
Feeling your touch across the miles,
glowing brightly with pleasure and delight.
Hungering to touch flesh,
instead of just a heated dream.
Fearful this might never come,
immeasureable loneliness consumes me.
When your soul is torn in two,
shades of sorrow are all it ever seems.

The Quiet

by Shonda Wilson
Macon, GA

Searching the void for something tangible
dragging my numb fingers across the frozen ground...
hoping for warmth, life, emotion,
something beyond the reality of gray.
Huddled in the empty corner of my mind
which is not yet boggled with thought, time, and responsibility.
chanting for distance...
over and over
in a fervor, in a stupor.
Lost among the tasks at hand
and filing the dreams away for safe keeping.
There's always hope...one day
things will change.
