The tail of the tiger behind the stripes

So, you have come seeking knowledge. You have come to the right place. The tiger has several forms. Among his many forms are those of a human, a winged tiger, a warrior tiger, a jaguarundi, an assassin pallas' cat, or a hellcat.

The Human

Full name: Steven Paul Lang

Height: 6'3"
Hair: Dark

Steven was born east of the San Francisco bay, and lived his entire childhood in a quiet part of town in Lafayette, California. He grew up with two parents and a brother, as well as a handful of cats and various assorted wildlife.

During grade school, he got in an accident involving a bicycle and a gate, in which he lost his front tooth. He had been wanting to learn to play the clarinet at the time, and this prevented him. So instead, he went back to the piano, which he had been learning earlier.

In junior high school, he started to learn that he had a knack for analytical thinking, and was good at math, and with computers. The summer after Sophomore year in high school he released his first computer program for sale, and discovered besides being easy for him to use, there was money to be made in computers.

College turned out to be rather boring, besides an astronomy class. He was on a programming contest team. But after he completed the first program rather fast, his teammates wanted to do one too, so they hogged the computer the rest of the time. His team only completed 1 program.

After 3 semesters of college, he decided he wanted money, so went out into the work force, vowing to return to school as soon as he got settled down. Since then he moved to Santa Clara, then Sunnyvale, then San Jose, back to in Santa Clara about a half a mile from where he was before, and on to Mountain View. Whew, stop moving already!

Having left his job at Duet Technologies as the system administrator for the San Jose office, Steven is now working as a software engineer at Network Associates where he is making gross amounts of money. He is currently working on the UNIX version of a product called CyberCop Monitor.

While not at work, he likes to hang out online, and play games (Computer, card, board, RPG, etc). He has recently taken more of an interest in the larger of the feline family and at some point, getting to a position he gets to work with them often. For now, he is the adoptive parent of Fuzz the ocelot at the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound in Rosamond, CA.

The winged tiger

Full name: Fredamreta
Other names: Fre'ta
Gender: Male
Species: Panthra tigris (tiger)
Height: 4'10" (Quadriped)
Fur: Orange and black stripes
Eyes: Emerald
Birthdate: Unknown
Marital status: Single
Occupation: Hunting
Interests: Painting, singing, sleeping, eating, sleeping, grooming, swimming.
Misc: Favorite color is red. Likes caves and waterfalls.

Fre'ta was born in an enchanted forest created ages ago to protect the magic from being destroyed by a world of imbalance between magic, religion and science. He spent his cubhood among griffons, dragons, kyree, unicorns, centaurs, and other so called mythical creatures. Even the trees, rocks, and soil of his youth had a life of their own.

Like everything else of the forest, he too was enchanted. The blunt fact of it was, he had wings and could fly. This may seem odd, but to him it was just a fact of life, and his parents and siblings were the same way.

Near the end of his cubhood (What would be late teens for a human) Fre'ta started getting adventurous. Even in the small protected world of his forest there was plenty to explore. Caves winding through rocks, rivers, trees. The landscape was ever changing. But even as it was ever changing, it was also always the same. And sooner or later he would see everything. And sooner than later, he found out that the magic protection was not impenetrable, and he found himself in the real world. At first he didn't notice it, and he just glided among the trees, in his usual exploring mood. However, soon he realized that he had escaped the confines of the magic protection, and furthermore, he did not know how to get back.

The next few years of his life were spent searching in vain. Every day he longed for the trees of the forest he grew up in. He pained himself to think about it. However, he finally resigned to the fact that he would have to make a new home. So finally he settled into a small abandoned cave. To help ease the feeling of loss, he took up painting. Every time he felt alone, he would add some to a mural depicting his home and family on a rather flat wall of his cave.

The warrior tiger

Full name: Tiger Northpaw
Other names: Deas (Day-us)
Gender: Male
Species: Panthra tigris (tiger)
Height: 7'8" (Biped, digitgrade)
Fur: Orange and black stripes
Eyes: Green
Birthdate: Unknown
Marital status: Celibate
Occupation: Warrior
Interests: Strategy, music, weaponry, stealth.
Misc: Favorite color is green. Likes forest walks. Dislikes beggars. Has an extreme hatred for dishonest bards.

Tiger was born in a primitive eastern village. From birth, his parents trained him in the art of fighting, hoping one day one of their cubs would become a great warrior. He grew up with one brother and one sister. His sister left the family young and soon found a life mate of her own. His brother disliked battle that was not for food, and turned instead to singing and glass crafting.

Tiger was not always known as Tiger. His birth name was Deas Northpaw. Unlike his siblings, he was very fond of battle and strategy, and worked hard to become a warrior. Finally his efforts paid off, and he was accepted into the elite Tiger Warriors squad. To promote unity and discipline, two things happened at this time. As long as he was with the Tiger Warriors, he was sworn to chastity, and he was no longer Deas, he was Tiger Northpaw.

The jaguarundi

Full name: Unknown
Other names: Cacomitli
Gender: Male
Species: Felis yagauroundi (Jaguarundi)
Height: 6'3" (Biped, digitgrade)
Fur: Dark red
Eyes: Yellow
Birthdate: Nahui Ollin (Four Earthquake)
Marital status: Single
Occupation: Trader
Interests: Exploring, adventures, trading, exotic treasures.
Misc: Favorite color is sky blue. He often goes on quests to find rare and exotic treasure to trade with the royalty. He dislikes dishonest merchants, and could often be seen tipping off the master of the marketplace whenever he saw a deal going awry.

Cacomitli was born in the Aztec empire. He was given an Aztec name at birth but does not recall it anymore, and nobody else alive knows it. As a cub he was the child of a palace guard and a scribe. Unlike most Aztec, he learned to read, from his mother. The high status of his parents afforded him access to the palace library, and he would occasionally go there to read.

One day, he read a story about an exotic treasure in lands to the east. The depiction of the glyphs as they described this treasure fascinated him, and he decided he would set out to find that treasure. After quite an adventure (Another story) he returned with the prized treasure, and presented it to the king, who greatly rewarded him. Soon he heard of other adventures to find more rare and exotic treasures, and he turned into an adventurer.

However, one day, after a long quest for a jade statue, he camped for the night. Examining his new price, he decided to start cleaning it. However, something he did triggered some hidden power, which transported him into another world. Upon seeing him, the natives were curious. He tried communicating with them. One of them heard him refer to himself as Cacomitli, the Aztec name for a Jaguarundi, and the name stuck. Since then he has learned to speak with the natives awkwardly, but quickly started learning of new adventures to be had, so was able to get right back into his work.

The assassin pallas' cat

Full name: Shrie DeLongstail
Other names: Chaos
Gender: Female
Species: Pallas' cat (Felis manul)
Height: 4'8" (Biped, digitgrade)
Fur: Silver
Eyes: Gold
Birthdate: Unknown
Marital status: Single
Occupation: Assassin
Interests: Stealth, poisons, fighting, dancing
Misc: Favorite color is gray. Favorite weapon is a dagger. Likes being in big crowds. Dislikes males who do not know their place.

As the cub to royalty, Shrie had a simple life. There was always someone to watch for her, always someone around to be with, and always someone to guard her. However, her life was also a sheltered one. Her parents were no strangers to danger. And danger presents itself quite readily, despite all the precautions, to one who is to inherit such a position as Shrie.

Quite content with her situation, Shrie never even considered that there might be a whole world outside for her. She had heard tales, of course, but her world was within the protection of the palace. To her, the tales were fantasy, not grounded in any reality she knew.

However, as she started schooling to teach her about her predestined role in life, raiders invaded. They broke through the defenses of the city and stormed the palace. Nothing escaped them. If it was alive, they killed or raped it. If it was not alive they smashed or burned it. If they missed it, they took care of that with some explosive charges, leaving the palace in ruins. The city, now without leadership, was vulnerable. Many came and went, taking what they wanted, until finally a new leader appeared, and rebuilt the city.

By some miraculous act of fate, the raiders missed Shrie. One of her maids bundled her in a linen sack and hid her in a trash bin. Shrie, not understanding fully what was happening, tried to get out. She managed to get a good view of outside just in time to see the maid who saved her be raped repeatedly, then ripped apart and tossed into the trash bin next to her. All she could do was watch in terror.

Still in shock from the attack, Shrie dared not move for several days. At that point, people were starting to filter into the ruins to loot what might be left for the taking. The pickings were very slim, however one of them thought to check the sack in the garbage bin, and was quite surprised to find a hissing young cub and a set of sharp teeth piercing his paw.

Even though he knew he would probably regret it, Ryaow decided to adopt and care for Shrie, until someone more suited could be found. This, of course, never happened, for some reason or another.

For several weeks, every time Ryaow would go to see Shrie, she was hiding from him. He did not want to push her, because he knew that cubs were quite capable of using their claws and teeth. He would bring food, and wait around for often an hour or more, but she would just stay where she was until he left. When he came back, the food would be gone, but she would be back in hiding.

After several weeks of this, Ryaow was not giving up. It was his hope that as long as he did not act hostile, she would decide he had good intentions. Finally, his patience paid off. As he was about to leave, she cautiously left her hiding place, one bit at a time. She quickly finished the food, keeping an eye on Ryaow the whole time. When she finished, Ryaow asked her name, and was finally able to start getting information out of her.

Once the barrier of fear had been broken through, clearing the rest away was fairly easy. Shrie began to grow to like and respect Ryaow. He did his best to teach her and guide her as she grew. However, there was still something unresolved in her mind.

Shrie still had hatred and fear. Every chance she got she tried to find out about her parents. She would talk to people, questioning anyone who seemed to know anything. And all her questions were beginning to lead to a conclusion that the raid was well planned and was the intention of a single person.

The lust for revenge started to grow in Shrie. Every time she slept her dreams were of the horrors of the raid. Every morning she would curse the person who could do such a thing. And every morning she longed for revenge.

When it came time for Shrie to leave Ryaow, she set out seeking a trade that would let her have the revenge she craved. After intense searching and extreme caution, she found an assassins guild. She started seeking knowledge in assassination by subtlety and stealth, not by blood and blade. The visions of her maid haunted her, and she could never bring that onto someone else who did nothing to justify it.

As an assassin, Shrie did not want anybody to know who she really was. Many assassins take on names to hide their true identity. Shrie became simply Chaos.

Currently, Chaos is working for pay, honing her skills, and waiting for the right opportunity to come along to serve up her revenge.
